During the last week of November, the National Coast Watch Council Secretariat in partnership with the UP IMLOS – Institute for Maritime Affairs and Law of the Sea and the National Defense College of the Philippines conducted a three-day Capstone Course on the Law of the Sea and Maritime Security. The training workshop, which was attended by senior military officers, was held at the Bocobo Hall, UP Diliman, Quezon City.

This training-workshop was divided to four modules that tackled related topics on International Law and United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea; Implementing UNCLOS and International Law in the Philippines; Special Issues on the West Philippine Sea; and Understanding the Sulu-Celebes Seas Tri-Border Region.

The event caps the previous training workshops that were conducted at the Naval Education and Training Command in Zambales in November 2017; Naval Forces Northern Luzon in La Union in March 2018; Western Command in Palawan in August 2018 and Western Mindanao Command in September 2018.
