Subic – The National Coast Watch Council, through its Secretariat supported the Chairman’s Cup Regatta (CCR) held from April 25 – 30, 2019. Aside from sailing competitions, the event also honored the leaders of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority who have played a significant role in making Subic Bay as one of the premier yacht racing destination in Asia. The Secretariat’s participation is also a related activity to promote the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) campaign.

The Secretariat also supported the Subic Sailing Club’s two-day Maritime Forum which discussed topics on Marine Scientific Research, National Marine Policy, Underwater Cultural Heritage and maritime heritage awareness. The second day of the maritime forum was opened by Assistant Secretary Lino Dabi of the Department of Transportation. He emphasized the Department’s support to the 2019 CCR and stressed the developments of Philippine sailing from being a water support to being a way to promote maritime advocacies and bringing higher maritime consciousness to the Filipinos.

The CCR ended with a closing ceremony and awarding of winners held at the Beachfront of the Lighthouse MARINA Resort.
